AbstractHIV‐1 infected human beings have an increased risk of developing extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB), the immunopathogenesis of which is poorly understood. Here we conducted a detailed immunological analysis of human pericardial TB, to determine the effect of HIV‐1 co‐infection on the phenotype of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB)‐specific reminiscence T cells and the role of polyfunctional T cells at the disease site, using cells from pericardial fluid and blood of 74 patients with (n=50) and without (n=24) HIV‐1 co‐infection. The MTB antigen‐induced IFN‐γ response was elevated at the disease site, irrespective of HIV‐1 status or antigenic stimulant. However, the IFN‐γ ELISpot showed no …

Bisphosphonate-Related Osteonecrosis from the Jaws Connected With Photodynamic Therapy
by admin on 25. Sep, 2011 in Health
Photodynamic therapy (PDT), which is often used to handle different solid growths and several nonmalignant illnesses, involves a couple-step action: 1) the selective uptake and retention of the photosensitizer in neoplastic or abnormal tissue and a pair of) activation from the photosensitizer having a specific wavelength of nonthermal blaze, usually from the laser. The blaze triggers the photosensitizer, which interacts with molecular oxygen to create a fired up condition. This leads to producing oxygen autonomous of charge radicals or even the formation of intra cellular singlet oxygen, which in turn causes cell dying. The administer cytotoxic activity and microvascular hurt …
